A New Look! Inside the Futuriom Upgrade

Independent technology analysis, especially in cloud and AI infrastructure, is always an adventure. With rapidly changing markets and colliding facts and influences ranging from Wall Street to social media, the space is increasingly filled with lots of noise.

Futuriom has decided to take a unique approach to help separate the signal from the noise.

A year ago, Futuriom started this journey to our new analysis architecture. Or, should we call it anarchitecture?¿ 😉 We started building data dashboards for ourselves, to understand what was going on in cloud and communications markets. Then we translated this data into a proprietary relational database with visualizations.

At the same time, we continued to talk to the full ecosystem of the cloud infrastructure market: tech founders, end users, investors, and channel partners. This helps fill out our knowledge of the market.

Today, I’m introducing you to the details of a major upgrade of our services, data, and website, which we have launched this week. With a new emphasis on detailed analysis of end-customer deployments, interviews of experts, and collection of data (including ongoing surveys), Futuriom has pivoted to high-powered, data-driven research to guide your knowledge of the cloud and AI infrastructure markets.

Redefining Independent Tech Analysis

Why did we pivot? If you spend a lot of your time wandering around the dark corners of the technology analysis market, you will see an increased volume of hype, with less emphasis on facts and details. Meet the “influencers.” It kinda reflects what’s going on in politics, doesn’t it? We want to change all that.

We are considered influencers by many people, but we want to be a different kind of influencer. We call it Intelligent Influence, based on the dirty work of polling and interviewing end users, gathering data, and digging up market intelligence. Then we can share all of this data, analysis, and opinion with cloud professionals to help them navigate these rapidly changing markets.

And we’ve just started. Over the next year, we intend to roll out more valuable tools for the cloud professional than are available anywhere else in the independent research market. This will include as many as 16 industry reports, augmented case study databases, our 5G services database, and updates on AI infrastructure deployments.

Bigger Calendar, More Research and Data

The hot topics we intend to cover over the next 18 months include: hybrid cloud infrastructure, AI infrastructure, platform engineering, infrastructure as code (IaC), AIOps, cloud observability, SASE, cloud security convergence, and multicloud infrastructure—just to name a few!

You can read the details of our forthcoming calendar here. I challenge you to find anybody as focused on these markets as we are.

Futuriom will of course have opinions, and sometimes controversial analysis, whether that’s the trajectory of Cisco or HPE; the state of object storage; the meaning of SASE platformization; or the growth of open-source projects such as Apache Iceberg. But before we come up with hard-hitting analysis or opinions, we’re going to make sure we do the difficult homework before issuing such opinions—talking to end users, gathering the relevant data, and having an understanding of market dynamics.

Here’s a quick outline of the new site and services available in our expanded format:

  • Futuriom News & Analysis (free). Futuriom will continue to provide more free research and news—probably more free content than any other independent research firm.
  • Cloud Market Trend Reports (free and sponsored). These reports are written by our independent analysis team and underwritten by our sponsor partners. These reports are heavily based on our end-user research (including surveys), and our agreement with sponsors includes strict rules about maintaining the independent voice of our research.
  • Premium Analyst Insight (Cloud Tracker PRO subscription required). Get regular takes on technology news and events from our analyst teams.
  • Premium Practitioner Q&A (CTP subscription required). Check out our archive of Q&As with the leading cloud and network architects in the world.
  • Cloud Tracker Pro Premium Reports (CTP subscription required). CTP Reports, with a cadence of once per quarter, keep you up to date on key trends in the cloud and communications markets, including capital spending trends, the market vibes, and feedback from the end markets.
  • Hybrid Cloud Index (CTP subscription required). This is our working analyst database of key hybrid cloud infrastructure deployments we are tracking. This data is then aggregated and sorted in a variety of ways to draw out details of trends in data visualizations.
  • 5G Services Tracker (CTP subscription required). This is one of the largest 5G Services database in the world, with more than 150 services identified! We then slice and dice it in our proprietary relational database, serving you up relevant data cuts and trends.

This is an exciting time for Futuriom. It’s also not cheap. We reinvest every penny our company makes back into our own research and services. If you believe in high quality, please consider supporting us by subscribing to our massive suite of services for the low introductory price of $48/month or $528/year per individual, or contact us about an enterprise license or sponsorship program.

Thank you and have a cloudy day!
